Instead, I got textbooks that emphasized the top 5 imports and exports of every country in the western hemisphere . Inspiring stuff. Didn't explain why most countries both export and import sugarbeets (why not just keep their own?) or, for that matter, what sugarbeets are. ("But that would be biology!" I had to read James Michener's
Centennial to find that out. Moumita, my 2nd graduate, also aims to be a geography teacher. I've recently figured out that she, Anwesha, and Jharna, my soon-to-be
3rd graduate, probably all live in the same region. I'm wondering if it's a coincidenc e that both girls became passionate about geography in 11th grade, or if they might have had the same teacher.
