    • A Classically Frustrating Toy

    • You give a kid a bunch of fancy gifts, and all she wants to play with is the rubber ball stapled to a paddle. Good. No matter their nationality, all kids everywhere must someday learn that IT'S IMPOSSIBLE to actually bounce those balls off those cartoon paddles more than ONE time in a row. Unless you attend Clown College. I'm pretty sure they teach you this skill in Clown College.  The little boy is Nicty's brother, Brayan. My mom is waiting to hear back about sponsoring him.
    • Jansy and Sponsor Hit the Dance Floor

    • Jansy has fun dancing with her sponsor, but runs off as soon as she sees the pizza being brought to our table.
    • More fun with the electric flyswatter!

    • Jonathan gets brave and lets his big bro talk him into touching the fly swatter. By this point, we've worn it down so that it will only fire off a charge periodically. This just adds to the suspense!
    • Honduran Grocery Store - Better Than Antigua!

    • El Progreso CI Dental Office

    • Do the colorful wall decorations and the upbeat music ease the children's nervousness? I've never been afraid of the dentist, but I do think it would be a little weird if a tour group with cameras showed up while I was laid out having a cavity drilled! That's why I kept this video short.
    • Letter Writing Workshop in Honduras

    • El Progreso, Honduras - I was surprised to learn that the children must compose their letters first on regular notebook paper, have them approved, and then re-write them onto the official letter form. I would've hated doing all that work as a kid!
    • 2nd try! Magda's Message to Her Sponsorship Group

    • After all the trouble I went through to get this video subtitled, I went an uploaded the wrong file this morning . In this version, you can tell what she's saying!
    • 2nd try! Odilia's Message to Her Sponsor Group

    • After all the trouble I went through to get this video subtitled, I went an uploaded the wrong file this morning . In this one, you can tell what she's saying!
    • Guatemalans Celebrate!

    • This group of gleeful Guatemalans are running torches through the streets of Antigua as a pre-Independence Day celebration ... or so I was told. Either that, or it's a lynching mob headed for Dr. Frankenstein's castle.

    • Water Umbrella

    • Carlos, Axel, and Wilson cool off under the water umbrella at Zizima Water Park.
    • We've Got Big Balls!

    • The kids show off their futbol skills at Zizima Water Park in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
    • Axel Dumps Soreli

    • Brothers tease little sisters in every country of the world! Taken at Zizima Water Park in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
    • Tube Tag!

    • Playing Tube Tag with Jonathan and Jimi. The game is usually much more active and competitive, but when toned it down for the purpose of filming. Not so easy to run a camera and play ferociously at the same time! This movie was taken at Zizima Water Park in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

    • Sury

    • Sury Adriana is a beautiful little girl who was born in 2006. She lives in rural Guatemala with her parents and older brother, Jose. Her papa is a laborer and her mama is a homemaker; their monthly income is $104. Their home consists of two bedrooms made entirely of concrete. They cook on a portable gas stove, sleep on wooden beds, and luckily have running water, regulated electrical usage and a toilet. Sury isn't in school, because the one she should be attending is too full to admit her. Sury enjoys playing with dolls and painting, and helps out around the house by gathering firewood. I first saw her in February 2011, and had tried to sign up to sponsor her in May, but was told she wasn't available. However, a couple weeks later, she reappeared on the website, so in June 2011, I called back and started sponsoring her. She waited 11 months for her first sponsor.
    • Wendy

    • Wendy Magaly is a lovely young lady born in 2001. She lives in rural Guatemala with her mama, older brother and two sisters. Her father has abandoned the family, and they survive on only $52 a month. Their home consists of one bedroom and a kitchen with adobe walls, a corrugated metal roof, and a dirt floor. They cook over an open fire, sleep on wooden beds and luckily have available electricity, running water and a latrine. Wendy is enrolled in school where her favorite subjects are math and grammar. She is bi-lingual, and speaks both Spanish and Cakchiquel. Her talents are singing and dancing; in her free time, she likes playing with dolls. She helps out at home by washing dishes and running errands. I saw Wendy on the website in the fall of 2010, but when I called in to add her, I was told a sponsor had already been found. She stayed with me, though, and I checked up on her periodically. In June 2010, she was once again waiting, so I added her right away.

    • Here are pictures of Odanni, my new 9 year old boy from Dominican Republic.
    • Linda

    • Linda is an adorable little girl who was born in 2006. She lives in rural Guatemala with her parents and younger sister. Her papa is a driver and her mama is a homemaker, and they average $104 a month. Their house consists of a bedroom and a multi-purpose room made with concrete block walls, a concrete roof and a tile floor. They sleep on wooden beds and cook over an open fire. Luckily, they have running water, regulated electricity and a toilet. Linda's talent is dancing and she also enjoys playing with dolls. She helps out around the house by doing dishes.

    • Anlli

    • Anlli Nayeli is an affectionate and beautiful girl born in 2001. She lives in rural Guatemala with her parents, Leandra and Robin, and her sister Kerlin, who's a year older than she is. Her dad is a day laborer and her mom is a homemaker; their average monthly income is $156. Their house is made up of a kitchen and one bedroom, with concrete block walls, concrete floors, and a corrugated metal roof. Luckily, they have running water, regulated electrical usage and a toilet. They have 2 wooden beds, and cook on a gas stove. Anlli is doing very well in school, where her favorite subject is grammar. In her free time, she likes reading, playing with dolls, jumping rope and playing basketbell. Her talent is dancing, and she helps out at home by running errands. Anlli is the first child I decided to sponsor, in September 2010. She's an eager correspondent who writes the most lovely letters. I feel so lucky to get to be a part of this wonderful little girl's life.
    • Joseline

    • Joseline is a sweet girl born in 1999. She lives in rural Guatemala with her parents, older brother and younger sister. Her dad is a carpenter and her mom is a homemaker; their average monthly income is $364, up over $100 since I started sponsoring Joseline in September 2010! They've been able to improve their house, too - the walls are concrete now instead of split cane. The roof is corrugated metal, but the floors are still dirt. They have 2 bedrooms and a kitchen, and are using a portable gas stove for cooking. Fortunately, they have running water, regulated electricity usage and a toilet. Joseline helps around the house by washing dishes and running errands. She's doing very well in school, where her favorite subjects are grammar and math. Her talent is dancing; she has aged out of dolls, and now enjoys playing basketball and watching TV. She's very detail-oriented, and writes lovely letters.

  • HI I sponsor Rudy in Guatemala. I love this child beyond belief. I have visited twice and hope to make it annually to see him and his family. It isgratifying to be able to help these people and CI makes it so easy for sponsors to do so.
    Anyone visiting Guatemala soon?
