McDonald's Courtyard
- This is just a video of everyone hanging out at McDonalds. At one point, Wilmer's little brother shouts something (while pounding on a replica of Ronald McDonald) and everybody laughs and laughs. I want to know what he says!!! If somebody watching this speaks Spanish, please translate for me! Also, check out Nicty's turtle backpack. She just loves it! Nicty picked it out at a souvenir stand operated by the mother of one of my CI hostesses. It's cool how their jobs just happened to coincide that day!

Inauguration of New Ecuador Community Center
- In a show of responsible corporate leadership, executives from CPX Interactive (http://cpxinteractive.com) inaugurate Children International's newest community center, which will help impoverished children in Guayaquil, Ecuador. CPX Interactive executives, feeling compelled to make a difference to poor children, encouraged their colleagues to join them in funding the construction of the B.U.D.S. Community Center, where over 5,000 children will receive medical and dental care, educational support and nutrition education. An effective model for community development, the new center marks the sixth Children International center in Guayaquil that serves poor children and their families from marginal areas of the city. The center will provide benefits to poor families who often live on less than a dollar a day and reside in makeshift shacks with dirt floors on the outskirts of a major metropolitan area.

Rovelyn
- Rovelyn is my fifth sponsored child with Children International and my thirteenth sponsored child ever. I sponsored her on 11/16/06. I sponsored her to break the "dominican-children-only" rule; she is from the Philippines. I had already broken the girls-only rule, so I decided to break this rule too. Yet I didn't enter CI's website with the express intention of sponsoring another child. I just saw her picture on CI's home page and her tender eyes bought me. You can see the picture that did this within this album. The first picture in this album is the one that did this. Rovelyn is my first filipina ever. Previously, I had sponsored children from Haiti, Nicaragua, and The Dominican Republic; althought by the time I sponsored Rovelyn, I only was sponsoring children from the Dominican Republic. Rovelyn is eleven years old. She lives with his father, mother, one brother and one sister. From all of my sponsored children, the most satisfying experience I have had came from a special donation I made to Rovelyn for a bed. When I got her pictures, picturing her sitting on her brand new bed with the broadest smile I have ever seen on any of my sponsored children until then, I just can say that it was worth way beyond each penny spent. It is the happiest memory I have of my sponsorship experiences. I might have a much better experience when I go visit one of them and he/she receives me with great excitement. If that ever happens, it will surpass this experience. But up to now, this is my best sponsorship memory, thanks to a little girl that lives far away called Rovelyn.

Carolyn Andrea
- Carolyn is my eighth sponsored child with Children International, and my sixteenth sponsored child ever. I sponsored her on 10/22/2007 or one or two days before that date. Carolyn was a child I chose from a booklet that CI sent to me asking me to sponsor a child from their waiting list. I took the booklet and did certain choices on it. Carolyn was my second choice. When I called CI to sponsor a child from that booklet, my first choice was already sponsored. So Carolyn became my then new sponsored child. The uncertainty I express on the previous paragraph is due to I didn't get a sponsorship confirmation email since I called CI directly to sponsor her. I did download her pictures on 10/22/2007, so I guess this was the same day of sponsorship or maybe one or two days after. Carolyn is eight years old. She lives in Honduras with her father, mother, and one brother. Carolyn writes her own letters. She has a clear and pretty handwriting. She is a very loving child. After Jose Antonio, she is the most loving of my sponsored children. She is also the one who more readily anwers my questions. It was funny that the first letter I got from her, she told me that she was pretty. Of course, I told her that I already knew that by seeing her pictures. :-) Carolyn is very sweet. I'm glad I sponsored her.

Clarizze
- Until 4/28/2009 morning, Alyson remained my most recent sponsored child. Things change overtime and this has already changed. Clarizze is now my tenth sponsored child with Children International, my eighteenth sponsored child ever, and one of my most recent sponsorships. Clarizze was yet another impulsive sponsorship. I entered CI's website and browsed through the girls list. I saved her page along with two more and I couldn't resist to sponsor all three of them. I sponsored Clarizze first, so she is now my tenth sponsored child. Her photo album contained three pictures, so I can easily guess that she had a sponsor who dropped the sponsorship for whatever reason. Clarizze is nine years old. She lives on the Philippines with her father, mother, three brothers and one sister, speaks Filipino, likes to play with dolls and to play with friends. She writes her letters by helself. All of my previous Filipinas always wrote their own letters. It has been my impression that children in the Phillipines learn to write fast. In her first letter, she told me that she liked to play "chinese garter". I didn't know whether that's the right spelling or just misreading the whole thing. I had never heard about such a thing. Her favorite color is pink (soooo sweet), and she loves to watch Dora the Explorer cartoon. She told me that she learns things from this cartoon. Something curious. In her first letter, she told me that her favorite school subject was English. But her favorite school subject according to CI was Mathematics. I thought maybe CI information was wrong... or maybe she changed her mind. This last picture shows a smiling Clarizze. Overly adorable. Clarizze is just adorable. I love her innocent eyes, her overall baby face. I look forward to build a fulfilling relationship with her.

Regine
- Regine is my seventh sponsored child with Children International, my fifteenth sponsored child ever, and the third girl from the Philippines. I sponsored Regine on 8/30/07. The process I followed to choose her was very deliberate. I went to CI's website and browsed through the search results for girls in more or less an age range of 5 to 10 years old. I collected a number of pictures renaming them with the name of the child, formed a collage with all of them and then I showed it to various people. It was funny to notice that a few of them were reluctant to see the pictures because they wrongly thought that I was asking them to sponsor a child. Once I had all the feedback, I chose Regine. Regine is eleven years old. She lives with her father, mother, one brother, and one sister. I'm still waiting for her big smile. She writes her own letters. All of my filipinas, and Regine is no exception, have a clear and pretty handwriting. Regine's handwriting is almost a work of art.

Carolina
- Carolina is my first sponsored child with Children International and actually my ninth sponsored child ever. I have been a sponsor since 1992. I have sponsored 8 children through another charity previous to Carolina, and I still sponsor 3 of them. When the time came when I had to say goodbye to one of my girls, Maria Eugenia, from the other charity, I decided that I'll sponsor two new girls to replace my beloved Maria. Carolina was one of them. I sponsored her on 9/1/2005. Carolina is a beautiful blonde green-eyed little girl from the Dominican Republic. She's now 9 years old. Her yearly pictures have always shown a very shy girl. This year's picture shows a bigger smile than last year's. She is obviously getting freer to smile to the camera. She lives with her mother and a younger sister. She is still too young to write her letters by herself. I'm already encouraging her to do so. I want her to write her own letters by herself as soon as she's able to. The communication is always more personal and satisfying when the child writes her own letters. The two pictures captioned "Carolina with her mom and sister" are still the only ones I've seen to date in which Carolina is broadly smiling. The other photos show a very shy little girl with the possible exception of her last yearly picture. Right in those two pictures, Carolina looks exceedingly adorable.

Nohelia
- Nohelia is my twelveth sponsored child with Children International, my twentieth sponsored child ever, and my most recent sponsorship. I sponsored her on 4/28/2009 along with Clarizze and Nicole Ann. As with the other two, Nohelia was another impulsive sponsorship. If you have read the descriptions on Clarizze and/or Nicole, you already know the story. I entered CI's website and browsed through the girls list. I saved her page along with two more and I couldn't resist to sponsor all three of them. I sponsored Nohelia after Clarizze and Nicole Ann, so she is now my twelveth sponsored child with Children International. When I sponsored her, her photo album contained two pictures, the first one from 7/31/2008 and the second one from 12/18/2008. Someone on CI confirmed to me that I am her first sponsor. So it's likely that I'll be her only sponsor. Nohelia was only four years old when I sponsored her, the youngest among my sponsored children. She is now five. She lives on Ecuador with her father, mother, and one sister who is 16 years old; speaks my native language, Spanish; and likes to play with dolls. A really good surprise is that her family is now earning $500 monthly instead of the meager $180 that they earned when I sponsored her. I'll need to wait long for the time when she can write her own letters, maybe three to four years. Alyson is also from Ecuador and she neither writes by herself. I have read that Ecuadorian children are very loving. I just cannot wait for the time when one of them will write to me. Alyson goes before Nohelia on that. She will begin writing before Nohelia. And Nohelia is beautiful. She has a gorgeous curly hair. And being a 4yo girl, she doesn't seem to be very shy.
