Great Mail Day

After a long stressful week of work today only made it for the better. I checked my mail and there was my golden day I got two first letters. One from Fernanda and one from Lira :) YAY, I also had a letter in there from CI letting me know Shania will get jeans for her Birthday from CI. Her Birthday is in 10 days. I called CI and she recieved her Birthday package from me so it should be in the next week or two that I get her pictures. Im also waiting for Fernanda's new picture to come. It was been a great day!

So I was going through all my letters. Can anyone tell me what the two letters mean. mr,cp,cw,cr I wasnt sure what they meant. Thank you everyone

  • Hello!  Debbie asked me to fill-in while she is out of the office for the day. I wanted to touch base on what the two-letter codes mean on the letters you receive from your sponsored children.

Musigal listed them correctly -- CP represents Child Participation, CW is Child Welcome, and CR is Child Requirement.  MR actually means Miscellaneous Request.

These two-letter codes simply represent an internal way of tracking child correspondence.  I hope this information proves helpful to you, and we're so happy you received your first letters from Fernanda and Lira today!  Thanks!  Kelly - CI Representative

  • Thanks neuilly. Yes they were very sweet and I was so excited. I have all their info, letters  and photos in an album and I read their letters often. It never gets old to me. I feel as though they are all part of me.

  • Child Requirement letters are (usually) the 2 annual letters that the kids are required to write whether their sponsor writes or not.

Child Participation letters are usually replies to sponsor letters, but it can also mean the child wrote "just because." Children are only asked to reply to letters if they haven't written in the past 90 days.

Child Welcome letters are the child's first letter to the sponsor, the one the agency directory asks them to write (or so Sahay puts it).

I've never heard of MR either.

  • I've never seen mr either! CP can mean that the child chose to write on his/her own or it can be in response to your letter - since technically they are asked to write back but aren't required to.

But how exciting to get your two letters!! I'm still waiting on a welcome letter...I know I probably have a couple more weeks to go but...!!! I hope the letters were lovely, and that they'll keep a smile on your face for the rest of the week!
