I have been sponsoring her for nearly a year now.  I went on a trip last fall to the Dominican Republic with another CI staff member and met Sandra at the community center we visited.  She was on the waiting list but very much involved in our program by volunteering at the center.  I thought that was such a selfless thing to do considering how poor she and her family are. She just wanted to be part of the activities even if she wasn't receiving any benefits.  Her father has to live in another town to work and send money back to the family.  Her mother cannot work as she has a severe heart condition.  Sandra has so much potential.  At only 13, she is now starting the 10th grade.  Although very thin she is very healthy and smart.  I want to do everything I can to help her achieve her dreams.

Very pretty young lady. Maybe she will be able to visit you lots when she becomes a flight attendant. OHHH that would be so cool :)
