debbies, 2 years ago | FlagAs many of you know, we have received the list of affected families, 569 in all. Below is a summary of the information from the SOA and how CI has responded to date:
883 sponsored children have been identified as affected (loss or damaged homes, loss or damage to personal property).
569 families of sponsored children identified as affected.
Over $23,000 in Lifeline Food Funds have been sent to the Agency from CIKC to support the purchase of food for families.
Agency is seeking funds to help build homes for 45 families who have completely lost their homes.
CI Product Donation program is sending a shipment of multivitamins and two containers of clothes, shoes and toys to Guatemala.
No fatalities or major injuries reported among the sponsored population.
We know the wait has been hard, and to get the info into the sponsors' hands more quickly, the decision was made to forego phone calls and send a letter to each sponsor involved.
Those letters will mail early next week; BUT if you would like to know you can call our Sponsor Services Dept. and we will be happy to look to see if your child is on the list.
I'm on vacation next week, but look forward to seeing all your new photos, letters and blogs when I return on July 6th.

debbies, 2 years ago | FlagSo far 550 families have been indentified as being affected. However, we have not received a list yet as because our staff was still working this week to overcome the obstacles in accessing some of the areas.
We anticipate receiving the complete list sometime next week after the staff has meet with each affected family and assessed their immediate and long term needs.
Through the radio publicity, our SOA received clothing donations and began delivering them. Through the Miracles On Hold program CIKC has sent two shipments containing clothes and shoes. It will take four weeks for the containers to arrive in Guatemala; so the clothing donations received through the radio publicity was a godsend to the families.
Additionally, our clinics are seeing a large number of cases of diarrhea and respiratory diseases. They are treating all the children and their family members and we have sent funds for the purchasing of more medicines for those diseases to all clinics.
Through the Lifeline Food fund our staff is delivering food bags in all the affected service areas. These bags represent a one time meal for the family, and since the families have no place to store food in bulk this is a daily delivery.
I know each of you is anxious to learn whether or not your child was affected, and I know the wait is hard. But as you can see, progress is being made, and our staff is working hard -- even though some of them lost their homes and belongings -- to reach each family to let them know they are not alone -- CI is with them because of the generosity of our caring sponsors.
