Hello, bonjour, hallo, jhola, hej, ciao!
My name is Linda Kraai.
I support numerous programs that aid our veterans, individuals with developmental disabilities, homeless and at risk youth, and other needy children.  One of my favorite organizations is Children International.
After discovering this agency in 1996 I began sponsoring a young boy named Mynor who lives in rural Guatemala.  At that time I made a personal commitment to continue sponsorship until he reached adulthood.  Through many difficult times I steadfastly maintained that pledge.
Sponsorship is important to impoverished children like Mynor because it allows them to receive free health care and medicine, plus access to dentists and other benefits like clothing, shoes and supplies necessary for them to go to school.  Although Mynor has caring, hard working parents, with five younger siblings and a total monthly family income of about $130.00 it is impossible for him to receive these basic necessaties without sponsorship.
I am happy to report that in December 2009 Mynor celebrated his 18th birthday.  I plan to continue his sponsorship as long as allowed and after that I hope to sponsor one of his younger siblings.
While I truly wish I could help every needy child, knowing that I have been able to help this one child, even in a such small way, has been very satisfying.  To anyone thinking about sponsorship I urge you to do it.  Together we can truly make a difference in the lives of children in need.

What I love about Children International and LiftOne:
For many years I really wanted to do something for needy children, however I procrastinated, mainly because I did not think that the small amount of funds I could provide would be helpful. I was truely amazed to discover that via Children International sponsorship I could actually provide direct benefits to a child I personally selected, for a monthly amount less than the cost of a few lattes.

Interests and hobbies:
Antiques and study of, collecting, history, genealogy, reading, children's programs. I love to travel and have been many places in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
